Wordle Project #2

Courtney Blackmon's fun and busy life story

Blog Assignment #1

My Family

My name is Courtney Blackmon. I am from Ocean Springs, Mississippi but have lived in Mobile for about four years. I have a three year old little girl named Madelynn who is my world. I am married to her father, BJ, whom I’ve been with for seven years. We celebrated one year of marriage yesterday! I love to go to the beach, shop, and get pedicures. I have my bachelors degree in Elementary Education and taught Kindergarten for two years in Mississippi. Then, I had Madelynn in 2009 and I have stayed home with her ever since. I am now ready to go back to teaching and have to renew my teacher’s certificate. But in order to renew it, I had to have three years of teaching experience when I only had two years. I am enrolled in EDM 310 and RED 330 this semester. It’s been five years since I graduated college so I feel like I’m starting all over, but I am excited to learn lots of new things.

I have a very close family whom I love dearly. My mom is remarried and they live in Vancleave, Mississippi along with my two stepbrothers. My mom works at home as a medical transcriptionist. My daddy lives alone in Ocean Springs and he is a postman in Pascagoula. My brother lives in Baton Rouge with his wife but they don’t have any children yet. He is a marine biologist and absolutely loves the water! My husband’s family is from Louisiana and we try to visit them often. His dad and two siblings live here in Mobile so we get to see them on a regular basis which is nice.

My Business

I am in love with photography! I have created a small business of doing photography for families. I love collecting props to use for newborn, engagement, couple, children, and family sessions. My husband gave me my camera for Christmas in 2009. It was our daughter’s first Christmas and as soon I opened it, I couldn’t put it down. I have been taking pictures since then and absolutely love making people smile, and even cry, when they see my work. I have done a few weddings and receptions but I mostly love capturing moments of sweet babies and families, especially my own!

Randy Pausch's Time Management video was great. I loved the part where he talked about the "To-Do Lists." I am such an organizer because I always make "To-Do Lists." I learned that I am an organized person and can manage time pretty well. My mom and dad have always been great planners and list makers so I guess I can thank them. I love the quote: "Failing to plan is planning to fail." I feel that if you don't get all your thoughts and ideas down on paper, you won't remember everything. I have a horrible memory so if I see something I want to remember and have at a party or know for future reference, then I write it down immediately. I haven't heard of Randy Pausch but I am glad that I know who he is now.
